DJing:
Martin has been a DJ for over 20 years. He quickly progressed from making up mix tapes for family parties to becoming a full time DJ in the 90’s.
His talent was spotted and he was approached to become the technical director for Phoenix Event Management which involved purchasing, designing and programming all of the companies sound and lighting equipment and managing and training the companies DJs.
Martin was still an active DJ within the company, performing at weddings at major hotels and venues across the region. He was also one of the country’s top modern jive DJs performing and programming music for the very successful Mo’jive nights which attracted 1500 a week. He was also a resident DJ at the Mo’club for 4 years.
In recent years Martin has concentrated mainly on weddings and has an excellent reputation, getting many 5 star reviews from delighted brides. He meets up to find out exactly what the bride and groom wants for their big day from the music, the colour of the lighting, to those special unforgettable moments. He also ensures that the reception looks fabulous.
Equipment:
Martin has always had a very keen interest in sound and lighting and how it can transform the look of a venue and create the perfect atmosphere.
He uses equipment of the highest quality to ensure that wedding looks stunning and sound amazing. He is one of the few DJs in Hampshire that use a premium Nexo sound system.
He can provide various lighting options for a bespoke look. The lighting can include scanners for projecting patterns like hearts around the room; a classic mirror ball; lighting effects which fill the room with beams; LED COB lights for a beautiful colour wash in your wedding colours; gobo projector projecting your names onto the dance floor; a show quality laser for animation, patterns and laser text on the wall; and uplighting which is programmed to compliment your colour scheme.
All lighting is custom programmed and tastefully matched to compliment the music.
All Day Weddings:
Martin performs at many all-day weddings each year where he provides music for the ceremony, background music for the drinks reception and wedding breakfast and provides a microphone for the speeches.
He also makes key announcements throughout the day like introducing the bride and groom into the wedding breakfast for their grand entrance (to music), introducing the speeches, organising cutting of the cake and any other special announcements that need to be made. Martin has completed the Brian Wroe wedding etiquette programme.
Personal:
Martin is married with two children and lives in North Baddesley. He is a trained chef but hasn’t cooked in years much to his wife Jane’s annoyance (Christmas dinner and barbeques don’t really count).
His main interests are football (mainly watching since his son can run rings around him now), cycling, walking in the forest, fishing and travel.
Martin’s passion is music and for a few years he probably spent more time in record shops than at home. Martin has got a really diverse taste in music which includes Funk, Northern Soul, Motown, Dance (please don’t call it EDM) Rock, Swing, Latin, Ska, Jazz, Disco and so many pop songs from the last 35 years.
Even though Martin has been a DJ for over 20 years he still keeps right up to date with all of the promo releases and chart dance mixes through CD Pool so knows exactly what is current and can mix them into his set.
Martin meets all of his clients in advance to discuss their needs within a 10 mile radius. He is a full time DJ so can meet you midweek daytimes or evenings.

We had a very unfortunate experience with a booked DJ who cancelled us the day before the wedding for a silly reason. After some frantic calling around Martin turned out to be available and came recommended, but we didn’t have time to meet him and only had a short chat on the phone. How lucky were we in hindsight as we couldn’t have wished for a better DJ for the night. We hoped to have everyone on the dance floor all night and it takes skill to sense what guests will dance to. Martin got it spot on despite a very brief conversation beforehand about our music taste, and we had a full dance floor all night (even more tricky with a large contingent of continental guests).
