Rhinefield House - Hampshire wedding venue
An independent & honest review of the wedding venue from a wedding DJ that has been working at Rhinefield House since 2007:
Rhinefield House Hotel is one of the UK’s most iconic wedding venues. Quite simply, it’s uniquely stunning. Its Tudor and Gothic architecture is perfectly complemented by beautifully maintained grounds and an ornamental drive lined with some of the largest trees in the country. It was originally a hunting odge for William the Conqueror & has been used by Kings and Queens up until Queen Victoria leased it to the Wakler-Munroe family in the ate 1800’s.
The building itself is an engineering masterpiece, and even after many years of visiting, I still find myself admiring the extraordinary level of detail and craftsmanship throughout (designed & built by the architects Romaine-Walker and Tanner in 1855). This is a one off build and as far as I am aware totally unique. This is especially the case with the Alhambra room – a mini version of the Alhambra Palace in Spain!
Rhinefield House Hotel is a stunning wedding venue, featuring one of the finest ornamental gardens in the UK and everything you need for a memorable day. The Great Hall—modelled on Westminster Hall—serves as an impressive space for both your ceremony and wedding breakfast. Adjacent to it, the King’s Room provides the perfect setting for your drinks reception and evening celebrations.
In addition, a range of other rooms is available depending on your package and guest numbers, including the Keeper’s Room and the downstairs bar area. The hotel also offers two distinct dining experiences: The Armada for a more formal setting, and The Orangery for a relaxed, contemporary atmosphere.
Outdoor ceremonies are also an option at Rhinefield House, and there are numerous guest rooms available for overnight stays. Among them is the Walker Suite, which is often reserved for the bride and groom.
The food and staff at Rhinefield House are second to none, and I couldn’t recommend the venue more highly. Having worked there consistently since 2008, the only criticisms I’ve heard tend to come from those who didn’t book it, often finding it a little too dark or grand — so it may be something of a “Marmite” venue depending on personal taste. As a four-star hotel in a relatively remote location, many guests choose not to stay overnight and instead rely on taxis. That said, Brockenhurst is just five minutes down the road, and local taxi services are excellent. For more affordable accommodation nearby, The Huntsman is a great option.
Wedding DJ & photobooth at Rhinefield House
Rhinefield House Hotel is an outstanding wedding venue, especially when it comes to evening entertainment. Having worked as a wedding DJ at nearly all the major venues across Hampshire, I can confidently say this one stands out from the rest.
The King’s Room is a fantastic dedicated space for evening celebrations. Some couples worry it might feel too small, but in reality, it’s perfectly suited for up to 150 guests, creating a lively, intimate atmosphere. It also benefits from its own bar and easy access to the outdoors—something many venues lack. Rather than feeling tucked away, the room naturally draws guests in and keeps the energy flowing.
One of the biggest advantages of having a separate entertainment space is the ability for suppliers to set up while you enjoy your wedding breakfast. Whether it’s a DJ, live band, or photobooth, everything can be ready to go as soon as your meal and speeches conclude. This allows for a smooth transition into the evening without delays.
That transition period is often a welcome pause for guests, giving them time to relax in the gardens or return to their rooms before the first dance. It helps everyone recharge and come back ready to fully enjoy the party.
At Rhinefield, the buffet is typically served in the Grand Hall, which can sometimes draw guests away from the dancefloor as people naturally gather and sit in that space. The hall also has large original doors leading outside, which are often left open—something to bear in mind during colder months, as it can make the area feel a bit chilly, especially if it’s windy.
The room lends itself to almost all of my optional extra wedding add on’s – most popular being the LED dancefloor, Sparks & clouds, LED uplighting & the photobooth.
It’s good having the kiosk photobooth and also the studio photobooth in the kings alongside the DJ, because everything is set up straight away after the meal and is all in the same place.
