Frequently asked questions:
Can we give you a list of music and personlise our party?
Yes totally!!
This what I most often what I rely on in order to customize your party & make it different.
This is a large part of what we discuss in our planning chat a month before the event.
Commonly included:
- Yours and your partners fave 20 tracks (seperate)
- A separate list of 20-30 good tracks on the night
- Music or artists you DO NOT WANT!
- Other specific guest requests (ie parent first dance)
- First dance and other key formality tracks
- Slower songs and end of the night tracks

Do you talk all the time, take requests on the night & do you mix/blend the music?
No, yes and yes!
I rarely say a lot after the first dance unless it is relevant - so absolutely NO cheesy DJ banter from me!
I do encourage requests and love the interaction from guests as they can often guide me to a different type of music or genre.
This is especially the case with large friend groups that really know each other.
Every event is different to getting to know the guests and being approachable is key for me.
I mix almost all my music and use the speed of the music (BPM) as a reference of where to go. Because I mix professionally I can seamlessly move between genres, decades and really mash up you favorite tracks. This is one of my best Skills & it has been honed over several decades. Most venue managers like my service as I play different music and create a flow from the start to finish.

What extra services do can we add to enhance our wedding day?
Good question. Yes I you can book what ever you require & as a rule of thumb, the more you book the more I can give you a good deal!! This is especially the case with All day DJ & photobooth package add on's!
I do quite a few things other than Djing that might not be apparent to a person casually browsing the site.
- Sound and lighting hire
- Photobooths
- Dry ice / 'dancing on the clouds'
- 4ft high cold sparks
- All day DJ service
- LED dance floors & giant letters
- Event photography
- Large screens and projectors
- Live streaming
- Master of Ceremonies (MC) and host.
- 'your name in lights' - wall monogram
- 1/2 meter mirrorball and extra effects lighting.
- Butler in the Buff (only kidding!!).

Do you just do weddings?
No - love weddings but I do a lot more.
I also run Your AV which specialists in:
- Corporate event & conference audio visual hire
- Private and corporate event DJ's & photobooth's
- Live streaming & recording of corporate events.
- Dance music DJ for festivals and nightclub
- Event photography
Additionally I also run Bogfrog - which although similar to Your AV & Your DJ - caters for holistic and positive living events:
Whats your costs, how do we check availability & what is your booking process?
Prices depend on the services you require, the day of the week & time of the year.
Here is a rough idea of my prices.
To check availability contact me directly.
To book simply fill out a digital booking form & pay a 30% booking fee.
The balance is often due one month before the date.
This is usually when we have a planning meet.
Do you work with Bands and other musiciands and singers?
Yes certainly. I love working with other artists & will often consider myself a supporting act. My kit can fit into quite a tight space if needs be which is often the case with a large band that has a lot of equipment (drum kits and guitar effects pedals especially).
The photo below was playing with a Band at Careys Manor in the New Forest. The bride and the best man were in the band and sang a few numbers!! She was singing 'we are family here' - incredible band. there is a list of bands in my suppliers page.
What areas do you cover & are there venues you do not perform at?
I am based near Beualieu in The New Forest national park in Hampshire.
I play at all venues within Hampshire and travel up to ONE HOUR from Southampton to the following:
- HAMPSHIRE
- DORSET
- SURREY
- WILSHIRE
- WEST SUSSEX
Regular locations that I DJ in are:
- BROCKENHURST
- LYMINGTON
- BEAULIEU
- ROMSEY
- SALISBURY
- WINCHESTER
- SOUTHAMPTON
- PORTSMOUTH
- BASINGSTOKE
I DO NOT play at venues that have the following:
- BAD ACCESS - specifically steps and gravel. All of my kit is on wheels and is very heavy, requiring 2 people to lift it up stairs. I am OK with one set of stairs, but multiple steps/staircases & upstairs functions rooms make it very difficult. Distance from the performance area and ability to wheel my kit in is also a consideration. This is particularly the case with gravel.
- NO PARKING - For obvious reasons if I cannot park my car at or near the venue, particularly when unloading this makes it not viable unfortunately. I have only found this at a few city center venues.
- SOUND LIMITERS - This is largely dependent on the sound limiter being used and the level they have been set at. After some terrible experiences with sound limiters I avoid any venues that have a limit under 95 decibels &/or shut off the sound without warning. I also only play with a sound limiter if I can see the box. A lot more info on that HERE. Most limiters are workable however & your venue should be transparent with you from the start, but many are not.
My partner is Greek - do you only play English music?
Certainly not!
Over the years I have done all manner of 50% or 100% totally foreign wedding. Combined with this I can also combine the traditions, formalities and dances that might be involved & also work with other suppliers - such as a Romanian folk band or Bollywood dancers.
& from memory - the following:
- INDIAN WEDDINGS
- IRANIAN WEDDINGS
- FRENCH WEDDINGS
- POLISH WEDDINGS
- IRISH WEDDINGS
- GERMAN WEDDINGS
- JAPANESE WEDDINGS
- SOUTH AFRICAN WEDDINGS
- GHANA WEDDINGS
- SPANISH WEDDINGS (my fav)
- CHINESE WEDDINGS
- THAI WEDDINGS
- TURKISH WEDDINGS
- ROMANIAN WEDDINGS
- HUNGARIAN WEDDINGS
- GREEK WEDDINGS
- ITALIAN WEDDINGS
- PAKISTAN WEDDINGS
And probbaly a few more??
How much room do you need & how long does it take you to set up?
My equipment is highly customized for set up a speedy set up & a small playing area. Load in (without steps) takes me one trip (which saves lots of time) & full set up takes on average 20 mins (10 mins at a push). The large photoboth takes about 20 mins to set up also.
The minimum space I require is 2 meters by 1.5 meters, but more is preferred!! This is most common when I am playing with a large band!
OK we have booked - what do we need to do now?
Congratulations - that's one more thing ticked off your list - you can pour yourself a drink and relax!!
I am available most of the week as this is all I do - so if you have any questions please do ask, but usually we convene on Zoom a month before the event date, which is about the time the balance is to be paid. The best time for us to meet is straight after your planning meting with the venue & other suppliers.
The meet usually lasts about 20 minutes or more, most often during the week in the evening. More information HERE.
What happens if you are ill, break down or your equipment fails?
If for any reason I cant make it - I know a lot of other DJ's as well as agents that have very good DJ's often as back up - so there would be no problem getting it covered by someone with the same level of experience. This is even the case with very little notice also.
I have duplicates of all key items with me at all times. This includes Laptop, Ipad (s), Mixing desk, decks, microphones, large speaker etc. as well as a lot of other equipment at home. Over the years (since 2007) things have failed (usually on set up - not during the party) & I have always managed to replace or fix them.
Real case examples.
Over the years I have prepared for all eventualities and have also been tested. I have never been off ill, although once I had an upset stomach and paid a DJ friend to come with me just in case. I had to replace myself when my wife was giving birth & chose one of the best DJ's I know & he did a great job. I have also done this for fellow DJ's recently when his daughter suddenly fell seriously ill.
I have broken down several times & have always used my breakdown cover and arrived at the venue on time. I also have duplicate cars & when my coolant system burst, my wife arrive 20 minutes later. The AA towed my car home when I was setting up (early) at the venue.
Very rarely has any technical DJ equipment failed whist the party is in full swing. One time however my Macbook was just spinning its wheel (of death). Music was playing fine, however I had my ipad ready as it was not normal & it cut out (turned out to be a failed cable from the harddrive (very common). I moved straight to the ipad (people still dancing) & replace the Macbook with my duplicate! On this note a second device (running directly into the mixer) is always on with your first dance loaded and ready to go - just in case!!
Can we meet you in person at our venue?
I do not offer in person meetings because I am often meeting people at the same time during the week & I now have many more weekday family commitments (usually standing in the freezing cold watching my kids football training).
I can join in on a Zoom call if you have a venue specific question (usually set up related). & I am more than happy if you want to come and see me! I live very close to a lovely pub in Dibden Purlieu - MAP
Almost all meets occur in the evening on Zoom while you are at home after work, but I am also available on Zoom all day during the week also. I also do audio calls and Facetime.
Do you need to be fed on the day or have a break?
I never have breaks and will usually always be Djing - even when everyone is in a different room eating the buffet! I dont require to be fed for an evening function.
I request a meal it if I am booked all day, but this is discretionary. I will need to know if not especially in a venue that does not have a restaurant (i.e. a marquee in a field).
How far in advance to we need to book you?
As soon as you are happy to go ahead and book because I get booked up at least a year or more in advance for key dates. If you are keen to book and need to wait (ie payday) then I am happy to hold the date for a short period of time.
My venue have asked me for PLI & PAT - what is that?
Often the venues insurance companies require this as part of their policy:
Public liability insurance (PLI) is in place in case I damage the venue or someone gets hurt for some reason. I hols 10 million pounds with of PLI and have never had to use it.
Portable appliance testing (PAT) is an annual test of all my equipment by a certified PAT tester. He comes to my house and goes through all my kit. He usually finds something that is not earthed or is damaged, so for the cost it's good piece of mind for all.
My certificates are on THIS page.
The only other legal formality I tend to do is when a venue has a noise restriction or a noise limiter. This is often a signed declaration of the rules. More information on that: https://yourdj.co.uk/sound-meters-noise-limiters/
