Before he could read, he would pick out any record requested from his parent’s collection and, in the years that followed, never got invited to a house party without being asked to bring his box of vinyl. At the age of 16, he graduated from one deck to two and bought his first DJ equipment, became mobile at 17 and single-handedly promoted his first public event for 200 people.
Living just 10 miles from London at the time, John was quickly building up a whole host of satisfied clients who booked him on a regular basis. They recognised his skill in reading a dance floor and loved his extensive record collection. This ensured regular weekly work, generated purely from recommendations and without the aid of advertising or the internet.
During the Dance music heyday of the 90s, John craved another challenge and branched out into clubland. He learned to mix vinyl using Technics decks and regularly played 6 hour sets to 500+ happy paying punters in London and Kent.
The lure of a good woman moved John to Hampshire and along with two children, his family was complete. And this presented him with another challenge – to rebuild his mobile DJ business again from scratch in another part of the country. Hard work, a growing reputation and the opportunity to join a leading group of like-minded professionals in the Hampshire DJ Alliance has paid dividends, and John is now more sought after than ever before by his clients.
And those clients are more often than not Brides and Grooms looking for professional entertainment for their wedding day. John’s approach is a personal one. After the initial contact, the next stage will be to meet at their venue, to get to know them as people rather than just customers, as well as talking through the various stages of their day and offering suggestions and advice. John can provide music for your ceremony, Wedding Breakfast and, of course, your evening. He can offer a wide range of equipment, added extras and packages to compliment your wedding venue, including wireless up-lighting in a colour of your choice, microphones for your speeches and the very latest lighting and sound equipment. John is also the sole DJ representative of the New Forest Wedding Group.
But John’s success isn’t built on the equipment he uses, or the number of people he’s played to but his exhaustive music knowledge. Having been a DJ since the early 70s as well as a weekly presenter of his music quizzes, John offers clients something many younger DJs can’t and that’s a true understanding of how to take a crowd on a flowing, seamless journey through all ages and genres of music. He is also comfortable choosing music for a particular theme should you have one, and regularly plays his vinyl in the New Forest pubs to Ska, Motown and Northern Soul lovers. And John also subscribes to Promo Only, a music subscription service which keeps him up to date with all the latest releases and mixes, allowing him to integrate the very best of today with the classics from years gone by.
Why not put his musical knowledge to the test for your event?
